Artistic director of Koru Performing Arts and Academy

‘Koru is a Maori symbol of creation, an unfurling fern frond, conveying perpetual movement, its inward coil, a return to the point of origin.  The koru therefore symbolises the way in which life both changes and stays the same’
Te Ahukaramu, Maori creation traditions

As teachers, to facilitate the needs of our learners we must understand their differing needs.  Once we have understood their needs, we will then seek to construct the appropriate language to nurture them.

At Koru we endeavour to offer a range of drama and dance classes with the option of taking exams and being involved in performance.

School starters are often made self-conscious by their altered environment as it can take time to settle. The continuity of the classes and peer-group can provide reassurance. By balancing imagery using material that is suitable for their age – group alongside technical skills, this achieves an interpersonal reaction at the children’s level of play.

All our staff are qualified with enhanced DBS certificates.

Private one-to-one tuition is available on request in Drama, Public Speaking, Ballet, Tap or Modern Theatre Dance.

Audition technique and preparation for Drama school entry is also available

Workshops in Contemporary dance, Jazz, Street, Tap and Ballet, Drama, Musical Theatre and Singing including Creative Arts, Prop/mask-making and Set Design are very popular.
